CASL League Clinic
The CASL Sponsored Stroke Clinic (free to participants) will be hosted at GPS this year on May 10th from 9:00 until 11:00 am at the GPS Pool. The guest Coach for this years event will be Jeremy Organ. Coach Organ is the head coach for the Vanderbilt Swim Program. Organ went to Vanderbilt after serving as head senior assistant/ head masters coach of the Nashville Aquatic Club (NAC), one of swimming's most competitive club teams. At the NAC, Organ mentored six national championship qualifiers in addition to assisting 20 swimmers in earning Division I scholarships. Organ's successful coaching career stemmed from his stellar collegiate performance at the University of North Dakota, where he became a six- time All-American. Organ also earned the North Central Conference Swimmer of the Year honors in 1995. Organ stayed with North Dakota following graduation to become Head Assistant Coach from 1996-2000. Organ earned consecutive Long Course Coach of the Year honors in 1998 and 1999 in addition to helping establish the swimming strength and conditioning program, supervising student- athlete's academic progress and implementing community service programs. Organ has extensive experience in overseeing the growth of several swim programs, including the Great Pensacola Aquatic Club, where he nearly doubled the senior swim program in just two years. During Organ's time at the Nashville Aquatic Club, the program grew from 250 participants in 2002, to over 300 swimmers in 2005. We are excited to have Coach Organ run our clinic this season.

About the Program
Tune-up for the CASL summer league season this spring by joining Baylor Swim Club's Summer Tune-Up: a spring stroke clinic and swim camp. Baylor’s top certified coaching staff will conduct a stroke clinic and camp to get you ready for the summer swim season. There will be a focus on technique in all the four strokes of freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke and butterfly, along with the critical starts and turns, which can determine the success of your race. We will teach fundamentals of flexibility, body awareness, and core body strength in swimming. Guest speakers and High School All- American Baylor swimmers will also join in the fun to talk about their success as swimmers.

Please let me know if you have any further questions, and thank you for your support of our program.

Scenic City Aquatic Club
This is let everyone know that the Scenic City Aquatic Club will be offering their Summer Tune-Up Stroke Clinic to get ready for the CASL Summer League Swim season. The schedule, cost, and registration form has been posted on SCAC Tune-Up Flyer

Scenic City is offering their summer Tune-up Clinic for those interested in preparing for this summers CASL Swimming season. Swimmers should already be able to swim 50 yards of Freestyle without stopping. There will be three days per week of instruction and drills on each stroke. We will mix up the days each week so that if someone cannot attend on a certain day of the week, they will not miss the same stroke technique all season.

Also, the Vanderbilt Women's coach will be coming in on May 10th from 9 to 11 for the CASL preseason stroke clinic.

If you have questions call 493-5536 or look to SCAC's Web Site www.swimscac.com for additional information.

Diving Coach Training and Certification
May 25th @ 10:00 AM at the Baylor Pool. All CASL diving coaches are required to complete the USDiving Coaches Safety Certification in order to coach in League-sponsored events. This certification must be renewed every three (3) years. USDiving provides this training in Chattanooga on an as-needed basis. The cost of the training and certification is $75. In addition to the certification, please remember that USDiving requires coaches to complete annual first aid and CPR courses. Email John Bonds at jbonds@baylorschool.org if you have an interest in this training.

Coaches Safety Training
This is one of the certification training classes for coaches needing their required certification for CASL swimming requirements. The cost is $30 and all participants must bring a bathing suit, towel, highlighter, a pen to write with and the book (same book as last year). If you need to buy the book it is $15, let Stan know if you need a book. Email Stan Corcoran at corcoran@mccallie.org if you have an interest in this training.

Swim Officials Training
All CASL swim officials are required to complete, as a minimum, the League-sponsored training class in order to officiate in League events. Officials already certified by USA Swimming are exempt from this requirement. The training class is conducted by the League's Head Official and should be attended every year. The class includes a review of the CASL Rules and Regulations, review of USA Swimming stroke and turn instructional video tapes, and a test. Upon satisfactory completion of this class, officals will be assigned by the Head Official. Please remember that each team must have at least one (2) representatives complete this training. Anyone can attend (Coaches, Parents, etc.) these sessions and are encouraged to do so, even if you are not interested in officiating. Two dates are being held for training, May 19th and May 20th. You only need to attend one day or the other. It is a great course to learn more about the sport and to help your swimmer(s) improve themselves. Contact Bill Caulkins at 821-8114 if you need additional information.

Diving Coaches Clinic
There will be a Diving Coaches Clinic provided as needed at the Baylor Swimming Pool. Email John Bonds at jbonds@baylorschool.org if you have an interest or questions.

Diving Judges Clinic
There will be a Diving Judges Clinic on May 28th from 6:00PM until 7:30PM at the Baylor Swimming Pool. Each team participating in diving competition must have a minimum of two (2) representatives trained to judge such events. This training class, led by a USDiving-certified coach, will teach the fundamentals of judging a dive. Email John Bonds at jbonds@baylorschool.org if you have an interest in this training.
